NEWS: J Mascis himself loves our ThickMaster and now has 13 sets in his guitars, he must like them a lot.
Now with reduced height for easy install into extra shallow cavities.
ThickMaster is designed for a syrupy, soulful jazz sound with a thick, juicy bite. Much better sound than original noisy pickups is a J Mascis Jazzmaster.
The difference is the ThickMaster has better dynamic range and aliveness. Can be used in the bridge position with a FatMaster Extra or SurfMaster Extra in the neck if a thick bridge sound is required, however this changes the middle switch position (both-on-together) sound to a significant degree since the ThickMaster will tend to dominate the mix and produce a distinctive Cluck. Cluck is the new rage and we are good at it.
UPDATE: 12-July-2018 A mixed set of 2 ThickMasters should be composed of ....
The ThickMaster Extra is a new model with improved balance with the neck pickup (tonally and loudness-wise) which means the neck pickup can be adjusted higher to get all of it's tone and both pickups have the same volume.
The 6 rod magnets are Kinman's proprietary Alnico-k** magnets which deliver cleaner sound devoid of string crash and pitch warble. Supplied with your choice of White, Parchment or Black covers. Original Fender covers are generally not suitable should you want other colors but Aged White and Cream covers without magnet holes are available on eBay. Use a brad point drill bit to make the holes to suit the magnet spreads we offer.

Some people will call these noiseless Jazzmaster pickups but Kinman prefers to describe them correctly as Zero-Hum Jazzmaster pickups. That's because there are 2 types of noise, Hum which is cancelled in the pickup and Buzz which can only be minimized by shielding the wiring cavities (refer to >Technical >Perfect Guitar >Shielding for newer guitars
Kinman pickups for Jazzmaster are direct replacements and no modification to the guitar is required.
Number of parts in this pickup: 28
Number of parts in regular single coil: 11
Number of parts in other brand noiseless: There are no other noiseless Jazzmaster pickups with Alnico rod magnets. Kinman is the only one and that makes it the coolest Jazzmaster pickup available.
Pickup adjustment
As with all Kinman Gen-2 pickups these are very sensitive to height adjustment. A good starting point, so the neck and bridge pickups balance, is with the two E strings fretted at the 15th fret, adjusted as follows ...

We highly recommend consulting the Install Guide in Technical section even if you think you know it all. Kinmans' require specialized knowledge and sometimes there is updated info.
We also highly recommend consulting the Adjust & Set-up page under the Technical Stuff header so you get the best out of your Kinman pickups.

Sorry, No YouTube demo for this pickup.
Installed your Fastmasters in my Squier Jazzmaster a few days ago.
Wow - your pickups are orders of magnitude better than Fenders for Fidelity and Hum cancelling.

Hello again Chris & Joe. The pickups in the FatMaster (Extra) are incredible. Very unique sound. They handle distortion and gain extremely well. I love the sounds I am getting from them. The bridge, mid, neck positions are all voiced perfectly. The low noise is incredible. It allows me to try levels of saturation that I was never comfortable with due to the extreme noise (hum and electrical buzz). These pickups are dead quiet, and they were extremely easy to install.
Getting great clean tones as well from them. Very satisfied with my purchase. Before buying these I had been constantly searching for a guitar that would please me. I've owned tele, strat, epihpone sheraton, les paul, Ibanez with various different mainstream pickups in them. Nothing has ever fully satisfied what I wanted. The jazzmaster with these pickups finally allows me to just focus on playing, and dialing great tones.
I've been using a sansamp gt2 with these on my amp head. Incredible sound. My bands guitar recordings are now what we always envisioned, allowing us to achieve the album we had in mind sonically. Every distortion pedal I try with these pickups just sounds amazing. Thanks for working with me, and thanks for making such an excellent pickup. Have a great day guys.
After using Kinman Jazzmaster pickups I don't see the point in using other pickups if I want a single coil sound. I have 3 sets and now going for the fourth set. I play indie and garage rock.
Holy smokes these Kinman Thick-Master pickups are other-worldly. I wish I could rate you again just to give you 5 more stars on Reverb. Because of your pickups, my J Mascis has turned into the star of my collection. I could use all of the pickup sales buzz words to describe the sound but you know how special the pickups are. I assume that is one reason to keep doing what you do and much respect. From the first moment, there is genuine love from the warmth and complexity up to the searing presence and crunchy lows.
Hello,
I put your SirfMaster set with the Extra bridge pickup pickups into my Jazzmaster and just wanted to tell you that they sound fantastic.
greetings Robby
I can't understand why anyone who ever picks up a Jazzmaster, from the stage to the garage, would ever want anything besides your pickups!
I installed my Thickmaster pick up set and I just have to say thanks for making these pickups. I use a lot of drive effects and the pickups in the J Mascis were absolutely unusable due to to how noisy they were. The Kinmans are perfect, no noise beautiful tone. Money well spent. Cheers Steven
Hi, I just wanted to let you know I absolutely love my new ThickMaster pickups. They have completely transformed my J Mascis Jazzmaster.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! I have just finished installing the FatMasters in my guitar. I honestly can't describe how happy I am. The guitar sounded good before - except for all the noise - but it's positively stunning now! It is exactly as you say... your pickups retain all the great qualities of the original pickups, but sound even better than the originals. I'll definitely be posting positive reviews in some forums soon, maybe with some example recordings, too. Thanks again!
Hi Chris i just want to let you know that my Jazzmaster now sounds amazing. The SurfMasters are even better than I expected. I thought I'd notice an improvement mainly in the neck pickup but both pickups sound way better than the originals. thanks mate John Farrar (Composer’ Songwriter Los Angeles)
