We are calling it "The 55", not because of any year. No, it's the 55mm magnet spread of a Tele bridge pickup, as distinct from the 52.5mm Strat model, not only aligns far better with the strings, it also improves the sound in quite a noticeable way. Once you experience it you won't want to go back to 52.5mm. The difference is so startling that we now make a Custom 55mm model with 2 mounting screws that are conducive to Strat pickguards (with a slight modification ... details below).
We have been contemplating this for years and we have finally taken the plunge. Why? For several good reasons.
That's the great news, now we have to explain the small modification that is required. Tele bridge pickups are slightly bigger than Strats so the opening in the pickguard must be enlarged. If you are a handyman you can file it to size with a round and a flat file and use sandpaper to smooth the edges. Or, you can have a replacement pickguard made with a standard Tele bridge opening but which has 2 mounting screws.
Routing and design templates and CNC files are available in the Technical Tab.
Like Tele bridge pickups there is no cover. The top plate is always Black but the coils are bound with Black or White cotton string (your option). We are considering a White top plate that matches our Strat covers that will have additional cost of around $20. Ask us about it if you are considering this new and exciting model.
Signal chain requirements for best tone and dynamic performance: Like any pickup it's not a bad idea to use a low capacitance cable to get the incredible performance of these pickups and hear all the nuances you and your guitar can muster. Learn why here Any old cable won't do.

** Alnico-K is a unique proprietary Alnico rod magnet developed by Kinman in 1985. It is Alnico-5 but has 40% less string pull than Alnico-5 so sustain is longer and there is much less clatter from string crash and no Strat-itis string warble.
