A well known American guitar maker asked us to create a high-performing 6 string Bass pickup and give it a unique sound as well as eye catching appearance.  We came up with the Midas series ... and it hands the much vaunted 'Midas touch' right to your fingers.

All other brands are made to a convenient price to make them affordable to end users as well as provide a good profit margin to the maker.  We threw that formula out the window and designed our Midas without cost saving shortcuts and you reap the rewards with their extraordinary performance. 

This Magnum Opus model is packed with Kinman's advanced Technology and these deliver a sound unlike anything you've probably experience before.  We have invented a unique new dimension in Bass sound, we call it Bass Presence ... and like presence from Fender guitar pickups it makes the sound stand out from the mix, giving it an unusual 3D quality that commands attention and it sound better than ordinary pickups ... even on small speakers and even cell phones.  But our Bass Presence is not in the treble range like guitar presence, it's in the middle midrange where it's most useful for bass and is produced by another of Kinman's patented inventions.  These pickups are very versatile and our separate unique 'Q' control provides useful expanded sonic horizons.

Mated to our K9 Goodbye Soldering Harness you'll experience a wide range of sounds.  Especially lovable is the 'series' sound of the bridge and middle pickups, and another unique sound of 'series' bridge + middle connected in 'parallel' with the neck.

Technologies

  • String sensing coil is wound over our patented Magnetic focusing device for High Q factor of 4.8 which our proprietary Q control switches to Q1.5  This is a BIG thing
  • High transparency hum sensing coil which uses Kinman's Reverse Law of Mutual Inductance on our Deep Core technology to minimize coil turns count (about half of the top coil) for minimal parasitic coil capacitance and minimal resistance.  This coil can be switched out of circuit without impacting the sound.  These are also BIG things
  • Anti TCS technology.  Prevents the horrible sound of Torn Cone Syndrome when a string is plucked with a sharp upstroke, one more BIG thing
  • Surface Switches on baseplate virtually have no dimensions, eliminating normal bulky switches for preset switching of coils to different configurations.  These can be connected to a remote (normal) switch mounted for convenient access, if required.  A small BIG thing

Electrical performance

  • String sensing coil is wound with 6500 turns giving a resistance of 5.8K Ohms and a Hum voltage of 1190 milli-volts
  • Hum sensing coil is wound with 3,770 turns giving a resistance of 2.7K Ohms and a Hum voltage of 1198 milli-volts
  • To measure hum we amplify it by a factor of 5000 so the residual, actual real-world hum level of 0.016mv is inaudible, even under massive gain

Mounting hardware

  • 3 pcs 30mm specially made Nickle plated wood screw with Philips drive.  14mm protruding from baseplate
  • 3 pcs long Silicon Rubber tube spring (you cut to required length)

Covers

  • Submerged Stereo Lithographic 3D printed in ABS with thick walls
